CLASS 51: New Zealand Horse Of The Year – Olympic Cup

The crème de la crème of New Zealand’s showjumpers battled it out today for the coveted New Zealand Horse of the Year Olympic Cup. Held over two rounds and concluding in a thrilling jump off, this was an event not to be missed. With three combinations required to jump off, we knew we were in for a treat. Melody Matheson and Cortaflex Graffiti MH were first out and went all clear in a time of 43.54. Tegan Fitzsimon and Windermere Cappuccino gave it their best shot, also clear, but just over a second slower than Matheson – finishing in 44.22. So it all came down to Emily Hayward and Belischi HM. They knew what they needed to do to take the title and they certainly left nothing in reserve, going clear in 41.98, taking almost a second off Matheson’s time. What a class of champions. Congratulations to all.
